Dibujo de Parallel

I've been so neglecting of illustration recently, but I am working on a project (promise)
I just would like to release all of the images in one big grand go.
I'm also working a lot, going on day trips etc etc
Here's a (again) rough sketch of a part of Barcelona

I went to a lovely Medieval Market today in the town outside of Barcelona called Vic.
It was incredibly!
The whole town is decorated and is full of stalls and music and people having a great time.

Fig tree and starling - Work in progress

I recently stayed in Cambridge and I was inspired by my boyfriend's lovely garden!
Here is a work in progress shot of another small square lino

I'm looking forward to printing it later today

Snaps Winter & Summer

I've been a bit lacking with illustration recently but I intend to start again soon.
I've needed a break to do other things.
Here's some snaps from this year instead

Cambridge Careers Spring illustration

The chosen design!
Coming to a Cambridge graduate near you…

Cambridge University graduate illustration

I was recently asked to make another illustration for Cambridge University graduate questionnaire mail-out.

The illustration needed to be in a Spring/Summer style, showing the lovely Cambridge Careers Service building.
Making something Spring/Summer-y was actually pretty tricky for me as I love quite colours which always end up looking quiet masculine..

The deadline was very short so I had to make most of it digitally (boo)
I'm still deciding on the colour palette..
But here we are!

Business social media

Another laptop decal.
I realised the last one (as much as a loved it)
was way too detailed.

After looking at some of them on laptops;
bold, simple and big is best

I build awesome websites

So ill right now. Typing this from the bed Ive made in the living room.
I haven't been this sick in a long time.

Today I've done absolutely nothing,
apart fromsend off this design for a laptop decal.
So whilst I'm on the internet I thought I'd do a quick blog post
*dedication*

Montserrat

Last weekend I went on a day trip to Montserrat (serrated mountain) with a few friends. I'd been once before but this time we climbed (or scrambled) right to the top.
Montserrat is a mountain near Barcelona with a beautiful monastery also worth visiting.

It was really lovely!
Here are some pics on my terrible ageing iphone

Klas Fahlen's food packaging

I recently saw this on an illustrator's group I'm a member of.
I LOVE food packaging; this pretty high up in my 'Top 5 commissions I'm Dreaming Of'

These are Swedish based illustrator Klas Fahlen's designs
for Scandinavian grocery company ICA in 2011.

You can see & read more about them here
and more of his work here
(which is also heartbreakingly amazing)

Lentil stew & Botanical gardens

I made this quickly. Not for any reason, just to practice colours and shapes.
Maybe I'll do a series… there's only so many 'recipes' I know though.

Sunday I went to the Botanical Gardens on Montjuïc here in Barcelona.
Really lovely and peaceful.
Cant wait to visit in the Summer.

Resolutions

I was looking at my website today and it looks.. like bits and pieces/unorganised and all over the place. Although I don't want to stop experimenting, I feel I need to perfect my way of approaching illustration..
Make my work look like a body of work, rather than bits and pieces.
I think I might have a spring clean of my website soon.

Which leads on nicely to my 'New Years Resolutions'..

1. Create/make something nearly every day
2. Become a great teacher
3. Learn Spanish
4. Eat healthier food and exercise! (Chocolate is exempt from this rule)
5. Go on day trips to interesting places (with sketchbook in hand)
6. Learn the ukelele

Maison Ravel sketch

Here's a sketch for an up and coming lino!
...Once I order a good piece of lino from England to Spain (Im quite picky)

It will be a small print of my boyfriend's lovely flat in Ciboure,
'Maison Ravel'
home to the artist Maurice Ravel
